Project Details
The purpose of the Emergency Response Training is to (1) develop/modify training curricula on effective emergency preparedness for people with disabilities; and (2) train trainers to use this curriculum to train individuals with disabilities, service providers and emergency managers to more effectively plan and prepare for the needs of people with disabilities in an emergency. Training is being designed and implemented by an Interagency Action Team that includes individuals with disabilities, family members, direct service providers, emergency managers, and university staff. It is anticipated that approximately 120 new trainers will be trained on effective emergency preparedness for people with disabilities. These trainers will in turn provide an additional 60-120 emergency preparedness training sessions to individuals with disabilities, families, direct service providers, and county/city emergency managers statewide.
