In 2013 the Utah State Courts formed a court/community partnership, an interdisciplinary network of guardianship stakeholders as an ongoing problem-solving body working to improve the system of services for vulnerable adults, caregivers, and guardians. Participants represent community based organizations, state agencies, caregivers, guardians, attorneys, social workers and medical professionals. The need for in-person training for procedures in guardianship/conservatorship, and life planning tools, including advance healthcare directive, powers of attorney and representative payees.

The objectives of the programs include providing life planning tools and alternatives to guardianship to promote safety, dignity and respect for vulnerable adult and prepare families, professionals, and vulnerable adults to navigate the world of advance life planning tools, guardianship procedures and community services.

A wealth of information on life planning tools and guardianship into Spanish that will help to refer minority groups to the Utah State Courts web pages are being developed. Trainings for both English speakers and minorities will be offered to professionals and the general public. In addition, an online training program will be posted on the Court website and will be made available to the public.
