Military Families Helped by 360 Project

Active-duty military families who have children with special needs are going to have an easier time finding the services and resources that they need through a new project at the CPD.  Hill Air Force Base has joined with the CPD to start the Utah Military Family Support 360 project, which is funded by an Administration for Developmental Disabilities grant for the next five years. Hill is one of ten sites across the nation participating in the program.

The project will not develop a new system within the military, but will identify the services that are already available and establish a single point of contact for information, support and referrals for families.

The Military Family Support 360 will provide each targeted family with individualized planning related to education, early intervention and child care, during year one.  New areas of emphasis will be added each of the 5 years.  CPD staff will work with the base's Special Needs Navigator, Tammy Custer, to improve how Hill provides and arranges for the needs of its families with special needs children.

They are starting with an informational summit to be held in March 31, 2010 to bring the families with children with special needs together will the organizations that are available to provide services to them.
