TBI Project Spotlights TBI Training
CPD's Project
Utah Traumatic Brain Injury Partnership Grant (TBI/PART)The Utah Traumatic Brain Injury Partnership Project, a part of the Interdisciplinary Training Division at the CPD, is focused on improving access to care and community support for persons who have received a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the state of Utah.
Over 40,000 people in Utah alone live with disabilities stemming from severe head injuries. Thanks to the TBI Partnership Project and its collaborating members, these individuals and their family members now have a better opportunity of finding the support and services that they need.
The Utah TBI Partnership Project works to bring educational training, materials, and information to six communities throughout Utah. In order to improve the quality of care given to individuals with brain injury, the Project supports and promotes a national certification program that establishes best practices for the training of both entry-level staff and experienced professionals working in brain injury services.
This voluntary certification program, developed by the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS), is based on the belief that well trained staff is necessary to provide the wide array of care required in brain injury services. This certification is not restricted to any one profession or discipline. It is intended for anyone who delivers services specific to brain injury.
