PEER Provides Employment Opportunities
Project PEER is a program for young adults with developmental disabilities aged 18-21 who participate in the special education services of two local education agencies in Cache County. The CPD houses Project PEER on the USU campus to facilitate students' participation in social, recreational, and employment opportunities with other students of the same age. Faculty and graduate students from the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation study variables that may contribute to students' preparation for employment and self-direction.
USU's Disability Resource Center provides training of peer mentors who work with PEER participants. Project PEER provides a unique opportunity for postsecondary students to gain real-world educational experiences through the public special education system.
