IOTI Project Offers Free Webinars


Parents as Partners in the IEP Process and Early Dispute Resolution, an IOTI project funded through the CPD is offering 3 FREE webinars for parents and professionals.

Webinar 1 will be held on May 12, 2009, 12:00, from noon to 2:00 p.m. The guest presenter is Wendy Carver, Assessment Specialist with the Utah State Office of Education, Special Education Section on the topic of "Assessment: What Parents Need to Know about Students with Disabilities Participation in Schoolwide Assessments."

This webinar will focus on the assessments that all students including students with disabilities take, how accommodations are selected, and how and when they can be used.

Webinar 2 will be held on May 21, 12:00 from noon to 1:00 p.m. The guest presenters are Glenna Gallo, Compliance Specialist, from the Utah State Office of Education, Special Education Section, and Adina Zahradnikova, Special Education Advocate, from the Disability Law Center in Salt Lake City. They will be presenting on "Everything You�¢ï¿½ï¿½ve Always Wanted to Ask about The IEP" and the "Special Education Process and Early Dispute Resolutions, Questions and Answers." This webinar will focus on how using the IEP process correctly and using early dispute resolution options can help to resolve problems. Time will also be allowed to ask any questions you may have about the IEP process.

Webinar 3 will be held on May 27, 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. The presenter is Jody Jones, Parent Consultant at the Utah Parent Center on the topic of "Positive Behavioral Supports: How Using Positive Behavioral Supports and the IEP Process to Deal with Behavior Problems Can Help Prevent Discipline Problems at School and Home."

These webinars are designed for parents and professionals. A webinar provides you with the opportunity to obtain valuable information from the comfort of your home, office, or other location. On your computer you will be able to view the PowerPoint slides while you listen to the presenter. Each webinar will also include a Question and Answer Period.
