ASSERT Finds Family Involvement Critical

The Autism Support Services: Education, Research, and Training (ASSERT) program claims that family training and participation is critical to their success.

The ASSERT program provides state-of-the-art preschool instruction to children, ages 3-5, with autism. . Parents have the opportunity to be involved in the program on multiple levels: family involvement in intake assessment; periodic parent training seminars; classroom observation and training; home visits by team leader twice per month ; daily communication via notebook exchange; monthly data-based reports of child progress.

Families who have children enrolled in the ASSERT preschool receive professional training and home visits by a team leader twice per month to learn how to continue the program at home.
