Disability Support Center Offers Cultural Competency Training

Hispanic families of children with special health needs often face language and cultural barriers as they try to access the services they need. The Disability Support Center for Families (360 ON/OFF), a project from the Center, Hispanic families can access healthcare services, food stamps, legal services, cash assistance, and transportation. In order for Hispanic families to find the information, resources, and services they need, the Cultural Competency Training Project staff is on hand at the Center to provide Spanish-speaking consultants who interpret trainings and translate resources offered at the Center.

These consultants are also available to help Hispanic individuals and families access services. Guidance is provided in English and Spanish through one-on-one sessions. The Center also offers educational and training services, including skill training for individuals with disabilities.
