BRASC Provides Services for Adults with Disabilities
CPD's Project
Bear River Activity and Skill CenterThe Bear River Activity and Skill Center (BRASC) is a day training and support center for youth and adults with relatively severe disabilities. BRASC provides a variety of recreational and educational programs that are available to participants of all ages. These programs provide a safe, fun, and educational environment for persons with disabilities
The day program at BRASC provides training to adults with disabilities in functional, academic, social, daily living, and other skills. The environment is homey and comfortable and they serve a small group of adults. The staff/person ratio is very small, and participants receive individual and small group training. Community and USU involvement is encouraged and participants regularly take part in community activities.
In addition, BRASC offers family support services for persons with disabilities of all ages, including respite, latch key, and summer recreation. Supported living services, which help adult individuals with disabilities to live in their communities, are also offered. Finally, supported employment services, emphasizing community-based job development and placement, are available.
