Syd Davies is Ngati Wai and Ngati Porou from Aotearoa (New Zealand) and is a graduate from Waikato University. He has specialized in indigenous psychology and has studied and researched in psychology and Maori. Areas of investigation that he has been involved in while at USU is; ethnic health disparities of CSHCNS, data collection systems of ethnic minorities, capacity building of communities, biocolonization, environmental psychology of indigenous peoples, multicultural psychology issues, cultural competence and cultural safety and historic trauma of indigenous peoples. As a graduate student employees he has had the opportunity to gain experience and apply his education in the field of Early Intervention Research from involvement with families and communities which help to advance the efforts at the Early Intervention Research Institute (EIRI) as well as increase the value of his education at Utah State University.
