Lisa Boyce, Ph.D., received her B.S. and M.Ed. from Idaho State University and her Ph.D. in Family and Human Development from Utah State University. For her dissertation project, Lisa studied the interactions and play behaviors of mothers of infants with disabilities. Her professional experience includes assessing infants with disabilities and providing support to parents in an early intervention center serving both rural and semi-urban communities. Currently, she works as a researcher on projects involving families with premature infants, families in Early Head Start, and Hispanic families living in poverty. A primary research focus now is to follow the language development of 200 Hispanic children from Spanish-speaking homes from their toddler years through their pre-kindergarten year. The knowledge obtained from these children's language trajectories studied within the context of their home environment will be used to help enhance early intervention services and inform public policy for young Hispanic children. Other research interests include: continuous program improvement of programs serving at-risk children, language development and links to emergent literacy, parent-child interactions, and school readiness.
