Janey Henkel recently joined the Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education (TAESE) team as a program specialist. Her work at TAESE includes providing technical assistance at the school, state, and regional levels in the implementation and reporting of special education programs.
Before joining the TAESE staff, Ms. Henkel served as a general education teacher, elementary principal, and program specialist for the Nebraska Department of Education, Office of Special Populations. During her tenure with the Department, she served as the State Complaint Investigator, produced several technical assistance documents, presented at numerous educational and parent conferences, and organized a variety of conferences and trainings.
Ms. Henkel has participated as a team member/chair for external team visits as part of the school improvement process for numerous school districts. She served as an adjunct professor for a local State college for several years.
Ms. Henkel earned a BS in Elementary Education and an MS in Elementary Administration from Chadron State College.
