A delegation from Izhevsk in the Republic of Udmurtia visited with Family, Consumer, and Human Development (FCHD) and Center for Persons with Disabilities (CPD) faculty this fall. The cohort of five researchers, one facilitator, and one translator is affiliated with Udmurt State University (USU) and was generously hosted in faculty homes. Sponsored by the Open World Leadership Center, a U.S. legislative branch agency, the visit was initiated by Cherie Martin, and adjunct faculty member at the Tooele campus of Utah State University.
The Russian visitors spend four days with Utah State researchers, jointly sharing research on social services/early intervention and visiting local programs for children both in Logan and in Salt Lake City. Cultural activities in Cache Valley during our Russian colleagues/ visit included the North Logan Pumpkin Walk, a hike in Logan Canyon, dressing up in Halloween costumes, singing songs, and making s'mores over a campfire. They also visited places in Salt Lake City, including Kennecott, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and Park City Olympic Park.
