A dozen people with disabilities have received new personalized quilts in their favorite colors.

The project was made possible by Center for Person with Disabilities staff members, 12 pinochle players and 20-plus quilters who donated a combined 186 hours of their time.

The quilts were presented Thursday at the Bear River Activity and Skills Center, where the groups of 12 attend the day training program.

Staff assistant Diane Green organized the donations to brighten up the BRASC, which trains adults with developmental disabilities in communication, self care, independent living skills, motor skills and social behaviors. The program is one of about 70 projects operated through the CPD.

Green's Tremonton-area pinochle group also helped by donating money and fabric. Needles and Friends, the group that Jewkes quilts with, would donate their time and expertise. The club had decided this year that in lieu of a Christmas girt exchange, they would donate to a good cause.
