Transition to Adult Life Workshop for Parents of Children with Special Needs

The Utah Parent Center is offering a free workshop titled Planning Now for a Successful Adult Life on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Sanderson Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, 5709 South 1500 West, Taylorsville, Utah.

Topics covered include:

Transition to adult life.  This workshop will offer information about transitioning to life after school.  The "From NO Where to KNOW Where" workshop will help parents understand the transition to adult life, how to prepare youth to participate in plan development and implementation as well as focus on issues and changing roles during this exciting, challenging time.

Getting and Keeping that First Job.  This workshop will offer information and strategies about preparing for employment for your youth or young adult with disabilities.

The Journey to Adulthood-What Every Parent Should Know (Pubery and Sexuality).  This workshop will offer information and strategies for talking to your child about puberty and sexuality, assisting your child in devleoping appropriate social skiills andpreparing for adulthood.
