Supported Employment Training
The Utah Supported Employment Project is holding a 2-day training on August 31 & September 1 at the Utah State Office of Education - South Board Room, 250 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Day one will begin with an introduction and overview of employment supported for people with disabilities. We will review the history of employment for people with disabilities and legislation related to employment programs for people with disabilities. We will also examine the roles and responsibilities of supported employment professionals.
On day two, participants will learn how to conduct meaningful assessments and develop vocational profiles, learn how to job develop and contact specific employers, learn how to develop employment proposals and negotiate employments. Participates will subsequently be required to conduct an assessment, interview an employer, and create an employment proposal with an individual they support.
There will be a follow-up meeting on October 5th. In addition to the specialty training, project staff is available for individual consultation
