We celebrated Marla’s birthday in September!

This month at the DSL worksite we had lots of fun! We celebrated many birthdays in September!

Heidi Sue and the buds were able to visit one fire station. When Heidi and the buds had reached this brick building, they saw some really long fire poles. They also saw some really long silver fire ladders. Everyone who went down there asked the crewmembers about how they can quickly save lives of people in traffic accidents. Heidi Sue watched how the Jaws of Life worked!

We also had one barbeque with Common Ground Outdoor Adventures. It was lots of fun and we had lots of hamburgers and hotdogs.

We also had another great party just ‘neath this six-poled pavilion. When all of the buds just were clustered outdoors, they heard their family members directly pull in. All the food really was super good. We had hot dogs and chili and lots of yummy food. It was great that our family members could join us for that pavilion opening. We are very happy that now we have a groovy pavilion right outside our worksite doorstep.

We also did window art in September, and it was lots of fun. We did food fun and made yogurt parfaits. We are excited for apples, and the Pumpkin Walk in October!

We did window art and we did other activities and we had fun! We had Harry Potter Day.  We dressed like him. We made wands and capes. Heidi and her buds sure did have one heck of an enormous blast, directly up here, on campus.

We did tons of activities inside this wooden and glass-windowed work-site. We made yummy smoothies which weren’t quite as thick as Heidi and her buds supposed they might be. Other than that, they were sticky, but yummy. Those drinks sure tasted good.

We also did other projects ’round here. We all worked on the bulletin board, and made the “very very hungry caterpillar” out of our handprints. Our hands got really messy with paint from that fun project.

We made our very own bowling game, and had lots of fun knocking over those pins.  We had a great activity with Common Ground. We cycled all over campus and it was fun.  We also made crepes, went swimming, and had Hawaiian Day. Summer program ended on august 15.  We sure did enjoy having those kids up here for the summer!

At DSL, June was bustin’ busy for Heidi Sue Subaru and her buds.  Everyone just had fun doing science projects on campus. Then we went in three vans downhill to this one public library to check out, and return books we’ve read, and ”Reading Rainbow” flicks to closely listen to and view.

Another day we did something with balloons outdoors. Most of all, we enjoyed tie-dying pillowcases and-shirts. We also did other projects, on campus. We made plastic bags of ”trail mix” for dads to munch on for Father’s Day.

We also got to go swimming for the first time this year! Those who went sure did enjoy getting into that cool water and playing with the swimming pool toys!

We also have a new friend, Kate, who is an intern who is helping us learn about all different kinds of safety.

We have a new participant in the day program, Mandy. Mandy loves Garth Brooks! She sure is a lot of fun, and we are happy to have her!  We also have Kade, who graduated from summer program and is now downstairs with us. Our program is growing!

Summer program started on June 2 and they have been very busy too.  They go on one activity a week with Common Ground, they go swimming once a week, and they had their own science day.

Brooke is in charge of snack time this summer for summer program and she is really enjoying it and she is a big help to the staff. They call Brooke the “snack staff!”

We have been busy upstairs and downstairs at the DSL worksite!

Heidi’s pie face!

We had our own version of March Madness here at the worksite.  We enjoyed taking a vote to see what our favorite pies were.  The winners were:  Apple, cherry, chocolate, banana, and strawberry.  We all pitched in and made pies for pie day, March 14 (3.14).  All of those pies were yummy.  Those pies did sure taste good.  After Heidi and her buds ate those good pies, they went home to tell their families all about it.

We also had one heck of a scavenger hunt.  We found clues and found tons of treasure at the end of the rainbow.  This rainbow was super sticky because it was by lots of chocolate treasure!

We also went to see “Mr. Peabody and Sherman.”  Mr. Peabody had a time machine and they all traveled through history.

Jon won our NCAA bracket.  We had a great month!

One of the buds hams it up on Valentine’s Day!

In February, Heid and her buds were very busy spreading the love. We made many, many, many Valentine Cards for a fund-raiser. The buds worked very hard to make them as special as could be and they turned out all right!

We also spread the love by having a Valentine’s Day party here at the work-site. Heid and buds feasted on bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, and hash browns. We all drank lots of orange juice so we wouldn’t get the scurvy.

We also went to the movies to see “The Lego Movie.” It was lots of fun and good.  We also went on a field trip to Lee’s Market Place and learned all about grocery stores.  We even got a free donut.

We did book orders, and because some of our buds ordered so many books we were able to get 50 free books–we were so happy to open the boxes of books. We spread the love all month!
