The Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) is a public health program dedicated to the improvement of the health of all mothers and children, and it will be celebrating its 75th birthday this fall.
As part of that celebration, MCHB is producing a document that highlights the progress made over the past 10 years in moving toward the MCHB goals . These include:
1. Increased medical homes;
2. Increased family satisfaction with decision making and services;
3. Adequate health coverage;
4. Improved screening;
5. Improved transition services.
The purpose of this document is to describe concrete, positive changes that have occurred for children, youth, and adults with special health care needs and for their families over the past decade. Any type of material is welcome such as photos, drawings, poems, or a written story.
ANYONE is eligible to submit: parent, professional, community service organization, youth, medical community, grandparents, etc.
Things to remember when submitting your story:
* Multiple submissions can be made from any person, community or state.
* Keep submissions to 500 words or less.
* If your photo is used, you will receive a letter of release with signature request.
* The audience is families, youth, policy makers, legislators, and the general public.
* Target date for publication completion is Fall 2010.
Deadline for submissions is March 15, 2010.
