The Center for Persons with Disabilities (CPD) is in the process of recruiting new members to fill positions on their Consumer Advisory Council (CAC). The Consumer Advisory Council is one of the primary advising and guiding bodies for the CPD. It’s membership consists of individuals with disabilities, family members, and representatives of government entities and local agencies who work with people with disabilities.
The CAC advises the CPD director about the Center’s impact on systems change, advocacy, and capacity building. The CAC members work with the CPD staff to develop annual goals and regularly reviews progress towards their accomplishment. The CAC meets twice a year with committee work done throughout the year by e-mail, teleconference, and an occasional meeting when needed.
At the present time, there are 3 parent and/or family members positions open on the CAC and 3 state agencies and community groups open. A term consists of three years with the ability to do a second term if desired.
Feel free to call or e-mail Gordon Richins if you have any questions or would like to fill out an application.
