Changes in the Department of Services for People with Disabilities

October 6, 2009 by cpehrson

Big changes have been made in the Department of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) due to the 2009 Legislative Session cuts of over $907,000.  Alan Ormsby, the DSPD Division Director, stated that “Change is never easy and we are compelled to make a lot of changes.  But a lot of positive things can come out of difficult circumstances, and I am confident we will recover.  DSPD will continue to serve with high standards, making a difference every day.”

To read about all of the new changes at the DSPD, go to http://www.dspd.utah.gov/

Ormsby has been meeting with people with disabilities and their families across Utah to explain these changes and how they will impact them.  A time is set aside at the end of each presentation for questions and concerns.  The next DSPD meeting will be held at the DSPD Office in St. George, Utah, 377 East Riverside Drive, Building B, Suite A on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

If you have questions or would like additional information about this meeting, please email or call Lori Giovannoni at (801)538-4182, lgiovann@utah.gov.

There are now new intake procedures for the DSPD that are effective immediately.  A toll-free number is available across the state for all Utah residents seeking an intake who are not already involved in the intake process or on a waiting list.  The number to call is 1-877-568-0084.
